Date: Monday, 25 February 2007
Venue: Goring
A sunny February day, and my first race of the season. The route from Goring is scenic, but hilly. Due to the repairs of the railway bridge in the centre of the village the route was slightly different to last year’s, but still included all the main hills.
An uphill start led out of Goring into the countryside. The course undulated out to South Stoke, mostly on roads, but through one field, a couple of gravel tracks and alongside the Thames back to the finish.
Lucia came flying past me at 3km – that was last I saw of her until the finish!
Having not run for a couple of weeks due to a cold I was quite pleased to improve on my time from last year by about two and a half minutes. Overall, an enjoyable start to the year, and one to do again next year.
