Club Cross Country Championship Standings 2008/9

Last updated: Wednesday, 12 November 2008
Two of our younger members competing at the 2008 Ascott-Under-Wychwood round of the Oxford Mail Cross Country League.

It’s clear that the weather is making the cross country events a little more challenging with the amount of rain we have witnessed in recent weeks! Our initial forays back into the Chiltern Cross Country League at both Watford and RAF Halton have shown that there is interest to compete in this cross country series with the league providing some stiffer competition for our members. The first event of the Oxford Mail League season at Ascott–Under–Wychwood saw an excellent turnout by our Harriers in all of the events and bodes well for the rest of the season.

So far, Paul Jégou is setting the pace in the men’s club cross country championship standings having collected maximum points points from the first two counting races of the season. In the ladies’ section Frances Briscoe and Carolyn Murphy are leading the way each having scored maximum points in one of the two opening counting races.

We look forward to seeing you all there at the next event enjoying the challenge. There’s nothing like bounding over the fields, through the cloying mud, into the wind and rain, and through the ditches and brooks! It’s all quite character building if nothing else!

Reports, photographs and results of any of your exploits throughout the season would be greatly appreciated by Dene Stringfellow and Paul Jégou – if you would like to see The Harrier continuing to flourish, you will need to continue supplying the material!

Below is the table for the club’s men’s cross country championship for 2008/9 showing the current standings of our participating runners.

Please also note, if you find or are aware of any error(s), please inform either Dene Stringfellow or Simon Atkin so the results table can be updated accordingly – provided that corroborating evidence is submitted, of course!
