Club Road Race Championship Positions 2007
Last updated: Monday, 20 August, 2007The excellent turnout at the Yarnton 5 evening event proved difficult to follow for the Hooky 6 race. This was almost certainly due to people being away on holiday. Although it may just have been that everyone preferred to lie in the sun rather than run in it!
Jason Cooke produced a solid performance to finish in 18th position overall. He picked up maximum club championship points and, in doing so, moved to the head the club championship leader board. A not unfamiliar sight in recent times. Following Jason across the line in 86th position was Simon Atkin. Gareth Smith (89th) and Graham Wiggins (102nd) were the club’s other finishers for the men.
After outshining the men in the road race turnout stakes at Yarnton for the first time in my short time as road race secretary Jenny Pearson and Sarah Baker carried the banner for the ladies this time round. Jenny crossed the line in 138th place ahead of Sarah who finished in 159th position overall.
After the Hooky 6 round of the club championship things are really tight at the top of the ladies’ table which now shows the adjusted totals with Jenny Pearson now leading the way by a single point from Sarah Baker and with Karen Malone a further 4 points behind.
Below is the table for the White Horse Harriers’ men’s road race championship for 2007 after the sixth event of the season held at Hook Norton on Sunday, 5 August.
